Transect: for speaking to the dead

We cannot see what the dead see. By looking together through and across the veil, we can approach the impossible divide.

Prompted by a Northern Flicker feather I found on the path on my brother’s birthday, six years after his death. This is a ritual garment intended to connect the wearer with the memory of their ancestors and departed loved ones, allowing communication across the barriers of time, space, and death. Each feather is tethered to a certain memory or moment, using the meditative technology of repetitive handwork. Through objects and intention, can we create pathways for mutual haunting? Can we open a portal in the rock face, a way out of no way?
